Amel (Dr) is a medical doctor by training and has worked in the Benishangul region as a general practitioner at Pawe General Hospital. This experience opened her eyes to the health challenges that vulnerable groups of the population especially women face.
At PSI Ethiopia, Dr. Amel primarily works with underserved population groups with a high risk of exposure to various diseases including HIV/AIDS, STI, and Cervical Cancer.
Her work involves providing comprehensive health care services tailored to the populationβs specific needs. These services include HIV self-tests, establishing and running multi-purpose Drop-in-Centers (DIC) for vulnerable populations, and introducing digital solutions suitable for serving the target groups.

Dr. Amel is also participating in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights training program with Lund University in Sweden. In the future, she hopes to contribute nationally in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights from a program and policy perspective, including inclusiveness and health equity.
